Extremely high fee on master card use

I donot know what happens with Payoneer and the mastercard use. I paid USD276 for 4 night stay in Cambodia and the charges on the master card was USD337.16 where I only authorized USD276. This is ridiculously high and stupid. I had cash more than enough to pay this at the time but use the master card because it was my $ and the charge was in $ and the fee would be 0. The pricing on payoneer does not mention any charge on this (just ATM, withdrawal etc.). The reason for me to use payoneer is to be able to use this card free of charge for my international travel. If it was not for this, I would use my cash or my other cards and would not need payoneer. I sent two emails to payneer and received automatic massages without any useful info. to solve the case. This is ridiculous! If this is the deal, I rather disallow this and had my friend pay the hotel rather than having to pay USD61 on USD267 payment. Would appreciate your help on this.

It sounds like a pre-authorization charge for charges related to services such as hotels, car rentals and restaurants. Unlike credit cards that have a limits you can reach, debit and prepaid cards depend on the amount of actual money that is available on the card. That being the case, I can assure you that you will receive the difference back to your card once the transaction is cleared.

What happens with hotels and car rentals for instance, is that a temporary hold charge will be put on the card to make sure that you have enough funds on the card to cover the transaction. Once the transaction is cleared, you will see the original amount that is supposed to be charged in your transaction history with the remainder of the charges funds returning to your card. Keep in mind that you may be charged a small fee for the currency conversion but the end result will be the $276 + currency conversion (1%-3% percent depending on the market rate of the given day).

Should you actually be charged the $337.16 (which I have never seen happen), definitely contact our support center so they can take care of this issue for.
