Sri Lankan Freelancers Beware! Payoneer cards not accepted in most Sri Lankan ATMs!

A recent development in the Sri Lankan banking sector is the trend towards rejection of Foreign credit and debit cards for use in local banks' ATM cash dispensers!
So anyone planning to travel to Sri Lanka are advised to bring lots of cash in hand or traveller's checks! Or better yet just go somewhere else!
Sri Lankan politicians in the Ministry of Finance don't much care for the ease of use afforded by giving foreigners access to the local ATM machines otherwise they would not have implemented this radical restriction. All they care about is stuffing their fat guts from the coffers of bribes they receive for favors.
Local freelancers who receive payments in US Dollars via the Payoneer card system are also in the same boat as these poor foreigners! This I believe is a Government ploy to make freelancers find local jobs! Make them slave away for a few Rupees instead of the US$ they would otherwise receive!
So avoid Sri Lanka and save yourselves a boatload of trouble!

They should get Bank Withdrawals instead of cards, that's a viable option, so they should try to get Sri Lanka approved in the International Wire transfers (SWIFT/BIC).0

Honestly I don't know. I asked one of HSBC bank represent, what is the exact reason for this limit. They haven't had clear idea. They said something like bank didn't see these transaction as a authenticate one and asked me to contact payoneer for more details.0 -

This will take a couple of days or a week even.. withdrawing in ATM is instant.. what if you need an urgent cash? Like I have to pay my credit card due or house rent?
Someone from outside of our country wants to help us but not our politicians.. that's the fate of Sri Lankans1
