Duplicated charges

So I bought new glasses on a fisical store, the transaction was accepted but it was duplicated in payoneer, both still as "pending transactions" How can I make sure that one is not going to be accepted and is this normal? It happened before when I tried to buy online and took 11 days to I get my funds back.

    Hi @WillianMarcs,

This is normal in most cases where one transaction was successful and one has failed. They would both be in "pending", which is known as pre-authorization, until the merchant is able to determine which, if any of the transactions, were successful. One would be charged by the merchant, the other would not be charged and would return to the card automatically, usually 7-10 business days afterwards.

There's not a way to predict whether or not one or both would be charged, sadly. However, if both are charged, you would be able to begin a dispute process with our customer care team to recover that transaction.

The pre-authorization process overall is normal. Usually you wouldn't notice a transaction on pending status because it is usually settled quickly. With these transactions, one of two things happen: the transaction is settled or released. When a transaction is settled, the funds were charged to the merchant. When a transaction is released, the funds are returned to the card. The release date of such transactions depend on the agreement that the merchant has with MasterCard so sometimes it is 7-10 business days, but pending on the type of merchant, can even be a month long wait.

A pre-authorized charge that still displays as "pending" hours later can be an indication of something wrong, but the merchant could also have their own schedule in charging/finalizing the transaction on their end.

Let us know if you have any more questions,

    Thanks!
