Phishing is when someone tries to contact you pretending to be from a legitimate organization (Payoneer, in our example), and asks you to provide sensitive account information, in an attempt to access your account without your authorization. Examples can be e-mail requests to confirm or update account information, SMS messages, telephone calls, etc.
We’d like to give you a few guidelines that will help you understand if you have been contacted by Payoneer, as well as a few tips to keep your information as secure as possible. Please take a moment to review the following blog post, which you can also refer to whenever you are unsure in the future: http://blog.payoneer.com/how-to-prevent-phishing-and-identity-theft/
